Cardi B Is the First Solo Woman to Win the Grammy for Best Rap Album [Updated]
EntertainmentAll a bad bitch need is the Grammy.
In one of the very few moments of true sincerity, surprise, and enjoyment at the 2019 Grammy awards, Cardi B, after slaying a 1920s-style, burlesque-inspired performance of her hit “Money,” was awarded Best Rap Album for 2018’s Invasion of Privacy, her debut full-length. She is the first solo woman to ever receive the award, which was first introduced in 1996 and given to Naughty by Nature for their fourth album, Poverty’s Paradise. The first woman to ever win the award was Lauryn Hill, as part of the Fugees, in 1997.
