Cops Shut Down Kim Kardashian's Store During Fashion's Night Out

Latest

Last night was Fashion’s Night Out in New York City, which means there were huge crowds of people in stores they could go to any other night of the year and random celebrities doing random things. Sarah Jessica Parker signed Manolos. Lea Michele autographed T-shirts at Saks. Justin Bieber was at D&G and said he was interested in doing a fashion line someday, of course, that’s what they all say. When The Beebs was asked about his purple leather jacket and gray jeans, he said, “They give me clothes and I put them on.” [WWD]

There was an absolutely insane crowd out side of the Dash store in Soho, where Kim Kardashian was appearing with DJ Pauly D. Kim posted a photo of the clusterfuck (seen at the top of this post) on her Twitter account, noting, “Wow NYC really showed the love for Fashion’s Night Out at Dash!” But that dangerous crush of human bodies was a security nightmare: People tried to jump barricades when Pauly D left the building, and the NYPD shut down the event, making the Kardashians vacate the store and turn out the lights so that the crowd would disperse. Joan Smalls says of being one of the few successful models of color in the business: “I think you’re seeing an evolution, and you see more chances and more opportunities being open to diversity… You know, beauty is diverse. And I think a lot of companies are noticing that. And it’s little by little. There’s a couple more that need to be done, but I think we’re getting there.
