Country Music Singer Joey Feek Dies at 40 of Cervical Cancer

Latest

Joey Martin Feek was a popular country music and bluegrass singer, widely known as one half of the duo Joey+Rory. She and her husband Rory have been making music together since they met 14 years ago.

The Feeks were very public about Joey’s cancer diagnosis and treatment, documenting both on a blog since June of 2014. The diagnosis came soon after the birth of their daughter, Indiana. The couple was also very open about their faith. In the post announcing her passing on March 4, Rory Fleek writes:

My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven.
The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.
At 2:30 this afternoon, as we were gathered around her, holding hands and praying.. my precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side.

He also shared an absolutely heart wrenching video, in which Joey is surprised with a message from her hero Dolly Parton. Honestly, don’t watch it unless you want to sob your eyes out, I’m crying as I write this:

Joey Fleek is being widely mourned by the country music community:
