Great Clothes, Gorgeous Celebs At Metropolitan Opera Gala

Latest

Who knew that Mary Kate Olsen was such an opera fan? Or, for that matter, Ginnifer Goodwin, Zoe Saldana or Parker Posey? Whatevs, at the Metropolitan Opera’s 125th anniversary gala last night, they looked amazing.

The Good:

Seeing Zoe Saldana’s sartorial perfection first thing Monday morning: inspiration, or despair?

I love Parker Posey’s opera costume. So screwball!

Why so furtive, MK? You look Stevie Nicks lovely!

Amber Rose’s structured gown and smoking curves are a truly rad combo.

I think Patricia Clarkson probably wakes up looking effortlessly elegant. Which is not to take any credit from her!

Ginnifer Goodwin’s gown is such a cool mix of whimsical print and classic shape.

I went back on forth on Diane Kruger’s almost-pageant getup; ultimately the lines, the understatement of her accessories and a pretty cool neckline keep it sufficiently fresh, I think.

The Bad:

It’s reassuring that even Claudia Schiffer can’t pull of anything!

Brooke Shields’ armored bodice has a serious case of the mother-of-the-brides.

Maybe Becki Newton could have rocked the mermaid gown if she hadn’t also let a kindergartner choose the shoes!

What Say You?

When it comes to my beloved Emily Mortimer: demurely bold, or boldly frumpy?
