In the current White House, accusations and condemnations are strewn around like chimps flinging shit, but it turns out the most copious poopers are the Trumps. News broke Sunday that prominent slumlord/Pixar voice actor Jared Kushner used his personal email for government business, and today it’s come to light that his wife Ivanka, a silent serpent who distracts you with great bone structure, also used a personal account in her capacity as a flack for her father, the President.
This is hypocritical, you will remember (because it is burned forever in your fucking mind). Much of the Trump campaign was spent working crowds into a frenzied chant of “Lock her up,” in reference to Hillary Clinton because she had periodically used personal email for official business. None of these emails were technically classified—same with Kushner—though Clinton had the advantage of not being under official investigation for alleged collusion with Russia.
And late Monday afternoon, Democrats announced they were launching their own investigation into Kushner’s private email use, per Politico. The probe was announced by Elijah Cummings, the top Dem in the House Oversight Committee, in a written request to Kushner to preserve “all official records and copies of records in your custody or control and that you provide the information requested below. Your actions in response to the preservation request and the information you provide in response to this letter will help determine the next steps in this investigation.”
Ivanka Trump, it seems, committed the same act, according to the watchdog organization American Oversight, which submitted a FOIA request in conjunction with Newsweek:
The documents show that on February 28, Trump—identifying herself as Ivanka Kushner—emailed Linda McMahon, the administrator of the United States Small Business Administration, from a personal domain. At the time, Trump was operating inside the White House in a nonofficial capacity. She wrote that she wanted McMahon’s agency and her staff to “explore opportunities to collaborate” on issues related to “women’s entrepreneurship.” She copied on the correspondence the government email addresses of two other federal employees, Dina Powell and Julie Radford.
Austin Evers, the director of American Oversight, released the following statement in response to the two emails:
“Yet again we see that there’s one rule for the Trump family and another for everyone else. It’s simply breathtaking that both Ivanka and Jared Kushner would conduct government on a personal email account after running a campaign centered on that very issue. The fact that they would brazenly ignore rules governing email use raises even more questions about their judgement and fitness to hold positions in the White House.”
The White House’s response to Newsweek was that it’s all good, since Ivanka Trump was not yet a federal employee on February 28—she “became a federal employee in March.”
