Jezebel Is the New Home of Splinter.com
We'll continue to publish Splinter's opinionated takes on the ways we are being failed by our leaders, be they Trump administration lackeys or a toothless resistance.
Splinter Splinter News
Almost two years ago, when Paste Media purchased and revived the then-shuttered Jezebel, it was important to us that we could do the same with Splinter. Both were folded due to a media climate that has been particularly unkind to controversial political stories and “brand unsafe” content. But Splinter, the left-leaning politics site that shared corporate owners with Jezebel, had lain dormant far longer. Because of that and the continued and seemingly ever-increasing challenges of today’s media landscape, we have decided to combine those two homes for great writing about politics and culture under one roof, Jezebel.com. As more corners of corporate media get muzzled by billionaire investors, it’s our hope to bring you more engaging stories each day in a single space.
Lauren Tousignant will continue serving as Jezebel’s Editor-in-Chief, with former Splinter EIC Jacob Weindling continuing to write every week as Splinter’s Editor-at-Large, as we attempt to preserve everything he poured into the site these last two years, as well as the great work that came before. The entire Splinter archive is now available under the Splinter tab of Jezebel.com, from its beginnings as part of Fusion TV to its latest iteration under Weindling’s leadership. And we’ll continue to publish Splinter’s opinionated takes on the ways we are being failed by our leaders, be they Trump administration lackeys or a toothless resistance.
We’re excited to introduce Splinter’s readers to Jezebel’s culture, politics, and reproductive rights coverage. And to introduce Jezebel readers’ to Jacob Weindling’s takedowns of anyone abusing power, Roqayah Chamseddine’s original reporting from the Middle East, Jen Kirby’s geopolitical expertise, and Jim Vorel’s crazy-well-researched rabbit holes. And we’ll round out some of our entertainment coverage with help from our sister sites, The A.V. Club and Paste Magazine.
Both current Jezebel and Splinter subscribers will get the ad-free experience on Jezebel.com. And through the end of the year, new subscribers will get both Jezebel and Splinter T-shirts (along with a Jezebel hat for yearly members). With the tech giants continually pulling the rug out from independent media sites like ours, it’s our dedicated readers, commenters, and—especially—subscribers that keep Jezebel alive, and we remain so thankful for you.
