John Kasich's Advice for Avoiding Sexual Assault: 'Don't Go to Parties Where There's A Lot of Alcohol'

Politics

During a town hall in Watertown, New York, presidential candidate John Kasich reminded voters that he is both still campaigning and still an asshole.

According to ABC News reporter Ben Gittleson, a female first-year student at St. Lawrence University asked what Kasich would do to “help me feel safer and more secure regarding sexual violence, harassment, and rape?”

“We think that when you enroll, you ought to absolutely know that if something happens to you along the lines of sexual harassment or whatever, you have a place to go where there is a confidential reporting, where there is an ability for you to access a rape kit, where that is kept confidential, but where it gives you the opportunity to pursue justice, after you have—have had some time to reflect on it all,” Kasich said, as if he was a good dude.

But Kasich is Kasich, and he couldn’t help but add one bit of advice that wasn’t the most succinct options “Don’t vote Republican” or “Men, don’t rape”: “Don’t go to parties where there’s a lot of alcohol.”

Thanks, Dad!
