Susan Sarandon’s new film The Meddler—which opened at the Toronto Film Festival in the fall to strongreviews, if only for Sarandon’s performance in it—has been perfectly timed for a full release, coming out April 22, just a couple weeks before Mother’s Day on May 8.
Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and the highly enjoyable Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, the movie stars Rose Byrne as Lori and Sarandon as Marnie, Lori’s mother, who moves from New Jersey to LA after the death of her husband and… meddles in her daughter’s life. Other roles go to J.K. Simmons (who has such a quality, doesn’t he?), and appearances by Cecily Strong, Casey Wilson, and Jerrod Carmichael. Okay, I’m done, you can send this link to mom now.
