Kendall Jenner Doesn't Get Why the Ballerinas Are Mad at Her

Last month Kendall Jenner did a ballet-themed shoot for Vogue España and found herself at the center of piping hot ballet drama.

For reference, here’s a brief video she posted to Instagram of the shoot, featuring Ken-Ken en pointe, wearing her hair in a bun and flopping around in a tutu, kind of like you do when working through your best Center Stage cosplay.

Balletomanes and actual ballerinas were quite steamed about what they viewed as “appropriation;” others were inclined to let this thing lie, arguing that she was just doing her job. Kendall ignored the controversy for the most part until today, breaking her silence on this juicy controversy in a blog post on her app.

“It’s so funny that people are getting pregnant and married—or having crazy drama—but my drama is ballerinas being upset at me! With my Vogue Spain shoot, I didn’t even know I was going to be a ballerina until I went into hair and makeup.”

Fair. It’s unclear what she was supposed to do when she arrived on set and a harried fashion assistant pushed a pair of leg warmers and a tutu into her hands and asked her to kindly report to hair and makeup. Was she supposed to take a stand against ballerina culture appropriation? Was she supposed to walk off set in solidarity? Out of all the things you could fuss at the Kardashians for in the appropriation realm, this falls pretty low on the list, no?

It seems Kendall felt the same way, saying: “It confuses me how people can get that upset when there are so many important things going on in the world. But, it’s obviously not going to stop me from working hard and being me.”

Some brief and slightly confusing updates on that whole Mariah Carey breakup mess. If TMZ and Entertainment Tonight’s respective exclusives are to be believed, it looks like Australian billionaire James Packer didn’t get cold feet because Mariah’s the most lovable mess you’ll ever meet – it’s because “something bad” happened on a boat.

Let’s hear from TMZ first:

Sources connected with Mariah claim James did “something really bad” involving her assistant. The sources would not elaborate but we’re told after the alleged incident Mariah bailed on the vacation, got off the boat and returned to L.A.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reports that they’re actually not broken up, just separated and working their shit out:

“The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah… They are trying to work it out,” Carey’s rep continues. “Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together.”
The rep says that the two plan to release an official statement after they’ve determined their future.

Out of all the celebrity dalliances, I’m really pulling for this one. Come on, butterfly. Work it out!
