Putting aside the selfies from the dawn of photography, like this and this and this, let’s take a serious look at this possibly historic claim. Today, Paris Hilton made a stunning assertion:
“11 years ago today, Me & Britney invented the selfie!”
Does she mean “I invented the selfie,” as in George Costanza saying “I invented ‘it’s not you, it’s me’”? Or did she mean “I invented the selfie” as in Thomas Edison saying “I invented the light bulb”?
Can anybody find a selfie, a cell phone photo taken at arm’s length, dated prior to November 19th, 2006?
