Trump Won't Listen to Mexican President Calmly Explaining Mexico Won't Pay for His Dumb Wall

Politics

Donald Trump, the political equivalent of one of those mutant factory farm chickens with breasts so big it can’t walk, met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto Wednesday. It’s a meeting that’s resulted in a round of embarrassing press for both men, particularly Donald Trump, although he’s physically impervious to shame and won’t notice.

Trump’s trip to Mexico is widely being described with words like “subdued.” He claimed that he and Peña Nieto didn’t discuss who would build his proposed big, beautiful border wall, a claim that Peña Nieto is merrily wrecking on Twitter.

From yesterday:

(“At the start of the conversation with Donald Trump, I told him Mexico isn’t going to pay for the wall.”)

Trump pretended like he hadn’t seen or heard that one, insisting in his immigration speech Wednesday night in Arizona that Mexico will pay for the wall, “100 percent.”

“They don’t know it yet,” he added. “But they’re going to pay for the wall.”

And why not triple down on Twitter?

Which occasioned this response from the Mexican president, who is perhaps not yet used to Donald Trump’s gentle and highly flexible relationship with reality:

(“I’ll repeat what I said personally, Mr. Trump: Mexico will never pay for the wall.”)

This is a fun one! Peña Nieto is now dealing with an infuriated response from the Mexican public, who are wondering why he didn’t take an opportunity to ask Trump about his comments that Mexican immigrants to the United States are “rapists and criminals.” As someone would probably say: Sad!
