On Tuesday afternoon, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa’s opponent in next year’s congressional election tweeted a photo that appeared to show Issa standing on the roof of an office building filming protestors on his phone, an arresting image that was quickly associated with a very good scene from The Office.
Following his AHCA vote, Issa—one of Congress’s most vulnerable Republicans in the upcoming midterms—is planning on holding what will likely be a not-very-friendly town hall this weekend. He was very recently in the spotlight for allegedly giving a reporter the finger when she tried to ask for comment on former FBI director Comey’s claim that Donald Trump had asked him to stop investigating Michael Flynn. That time, Issa said “I know she must have seen or heard something to believe this happened, but it didn’t”; this time, the congressman explained that he had simply “popped upstairs to take a quick pic” of his furious constituents:

In response to a request for comment from Jezebel, Issa’s communications director Calvin Moore disputed Levin’s version of events:
Hi Ellie — Mike obviously can’t keep his facts straight. The previous picture Mike posted minutes before was the Congressman talking to his constituents, as others have noted and as I have photographed in the attached pics.
The Congressman came down today to talk with the protestors gathered and answer some of the questions they might have. (They’ve been pretty adamant about town halls, so he thought they’d relish at the opportunity to answer some questions then and there). He spent some time talking to a few of those gathered regardless then headed upstairs to take a pic of everyone.
