Latest

Patsy Rodenburg, from the Guildhall School of Music, and her good sport of an assistant, Eliot, demonstrate how the Neanderthal’s different physiology might have affected their pitch. Oh man. At first it sounds a little bit like a fancy lady talking, and then it sounds like a muppet, and the it just gets… Well, watch for yourself. Of course, since there weren’t any recording devices back then, it’s all conjecture. But if they sounded even remotely like this guy does, it must have been extremely jarring when a Neanderthal tried to whisper sweet nothings in your ear.
