Will Packer to Produce New Female-Centered Comedy for Universal

Latest

It seems as if Hollywood might be getting the memo that we’ve been sending among ourselves for years: According to Variety, Will Packer is set to produce a female-driven comedy for Universal. The film is currently referred to as the “Untitled Girl’s Trip Project,” and it’ll be directed by Malcolm D. Lee.

Lee is teaming up with screenwriters Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver, the trio’s second collaboration since Barbershop 3, which is currently in production.

Packer’s previous producing credits include No Good Deed, Ride Along, and Think Like a Man. He is also the producer of Straight Outta Compton, a forthcoming biopic chronicling the rise of NWA.

It’s unfortunate that gender still skews in such a way in Hollywood that a major female-driven comedy is remarkable. But because it is—here’s to the Untitled Girl’s Trip Project.
