N: Icona Pop, “Girls Girls”—Icona Pop, I think you’re great, but you have to have another trick up your sleeve other than making pseudo-Spice Girls jams about girls having fun! – Hazel Cills

Y: Daphni “Tin”Dan Snaith, whom you may know as Caribou, has unveiled the second offering from his upcoming Fabriclive mix that will be comprised entirely of his music (with a whopping 24 previously unreleased tracks). “Tin” bounds in like mid-‘90s Todd Terry and then hooks you with a lovely cooing vocal sample that I’m almost positive come from the intro to Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together.” Compulsively catchy, “Tin” luxuriates in the great gray area between song and track. —Rich Juzwiak

Y: Superorganism, “Nobody Cares”—Earlier this year Frank Ocean played a song called “Something for your M.I.N.D.” on his radio show from this band Superorganism, now pulled from the Internet. I loved it and had no clue who they were other than blogs saying that they were maybe a 17-year-old Japanese girl from Maine recording with seven different people in London. I like their rubbery new song “Nobody Cares,” which reminds me of something that probably would have come out on K Records in 2007, like The Blow or Kimya Dawson. Which you might think sounds horrible but I’m into it! – HC

Y: Dej Loaf “No Fear” I got to hear this song in the studio months ago when I interviewed Dej Loaf for a Fader feature and I still enjoy the light hook and the summer MCM hookup feel. It’s the joy of a simple crush.—Clover Hope

Y: Calvin Harris “Feels” feat. Pharrell, Katy Perry & Big Sean – About time somebody made a song about feels. This track is in the same vein as the subtly funky L.A.-splashed mood of Calvin Harris’ other singles, a la my favorite summer song right now, “Slide.” “Feels” doesn’t quite match that song’s effortlessness, but Katy Perry’s vocals actually serve the hook well. Big Sean’s verse should’ve been deleted. —CH

N: Macklemore “Glorious” feat. Skylar Grey – I got 12 seconds into this new Macklemore. —CH

N: “Reasons,” Omarion’s Earth, Wind & Fire cover—Yeeikes. My love for Omarion and his corniness will never fade and I do like that he tried here. Sadly, this song is a tough one and the falsetto key isn’t right for his voice. He gets it right around the 2:19 mark when he switches to his natural key, but by then it’s too late. —CH

Y: Young Thug, Beautiful Thugger Girls—The wobbly sublime of Thugger singing with jubilance about his relationship acumen and inimitable shine is absolutely the summer note I’m trying to hit, but emotionally, don’t sleep on the melancholy bittersweetness of tracks like “Daddy’s Birthday” and “Oh Yeah.” I’m with it and also want a Jaheim collabo. —Julianne Escobedo Shepherd
