Adele, a very rich and successful woman who has more disposable income than I can even wrap my head around, recently visited an H&M, handed the cashier her credit card, and was told, “Send this charge to your new cred-it-or.” (That’s a terrible and embarrassing “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” reference, by the way.)
The Mirror reports the singer told an audience about her run-in with the dreaded “DECLINE” at a recent performance in San Jose. Though she was able to buy things at Sephora earlier that day, her trip to H&M wasn’t as successful.
She said: “I went to H&M and my card got declined. Oh my days, pretty embarrassing.
“Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
Her dog Louie then “tried to claw another dog,” which which point I assume she just said something charming like, “Bollocks, I’m such a bloody disaster. I bet you can’t wait for me to brexit the store!” and then handed the cashier a few $100s from the many rolls she keeps in her purse.
She claims “no one” at the store knew who she was, which makes me wonder if the person she famously calls in “Hello” was similarly confused after hearing her message.
