Here’s a clip from the 60-minute art film, Interior. Leather Bar., co-directed by and starring James Franco that will premiere at Sundance this week. Just like the movie, it’s all about gay sex. While the clip is definitely NSFW—not for nudity, but for the sounds of moans and slaps (you should be fine if you use headphones)—most of it is a conversation about gay sex, specifically, Franco’s personal thoughts (he plays “a version” of himself in the film) on the importance of showing it in mainstream movies to combat hetero-normative conditioning.

Interior. Leather Bar. is a “re-imagining” of the controversial 40 minutes of footage that was cut from Cruising, the 1980 Al Pacino film about a serial killer targeting gay men in West Village leather bars. According to Cruising’s director William Friedkin, all of the deleted footage was shot inside actual gay clubs and depicted “graphic homosexuality with Pacino watching, and with the intimation that he may have been participating.” He says he was forced by the MPAA to remove the scenes in order to avoid an X rating. He claims that the studio later destroyed the footage.
