Anthony Vaccarello Replaces Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent

Entertainment

The switcharoo has been speculated about for months, but WWD finally confirms that Anthony Vaccarello will succeed Hedi Slimane at Saint Laurent, no doubt replacing the latter’s ‘70s/’90s sensibility of rock excess with… a slightly more modern take on rock excess of the 1980s. Slimane left his post at Saint Laurent on Friday, and earlier today it was reported that Vaccarello left his at Versus Versace. Buncha dudes, tradin’ jobs!

This part from WWD, though, shows that Vaccarello knows how to work the game:

Vaccarello is on vacation and was not immediately available for comment.
In a statement, he called the late founder, who died in 2008, as “a legendary figure for his creativity, style and audacity. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary house.”

Because everyone should take a quick vacation before starting a new job. His last Instagram, from yesterday, should do enough to keep people from thinking there’s any beef. Aw, look.
