Ashley Tisdale Is Now Hanging Out With Hilary Duff’s Estranged Sister, Haylie

Last we heard from inside the toxic mom group cinematic universe, Hilary Duff‘s husband was mocking Ashley Tisdale on Instagram, Mandy Moore was cryptically speaking about having to mourn some of her friendships, and Meghan Trainor was making TikToks about not knowing about anything.

Now, Tisdale—the author of the essay who started it all—is hanging out with Haylie Duff, Hilary’s long-rumored-to-be-estranged sister, since at least 2019. I’m confident this development has secured us a sequel, or second series, whatever medium ultimately delivers us this saga.

On Tuesday, Haylie posted an Instagram Story of her seven-year-old daughter playing with Tisdale’s four-year-old daughter under a table, with the caption, “Under table shenanigans.” So clever. Tisdale then reposted the story.

More than anything, this isn’t really helping the rumor that Tisdale was getting the cold shoulder from the group because she may be a little bit Republican. After Charlie Kirk’s death on September 10, Tisdale posted a tribute, drawing a confusing parallel to 9/11, writing: “24 years ago feels very different from today. Where we once were united and grieving together as a country, today we see someone die and blame his politics and opinions. Everyone in that building had different views and opinions, when we stop caring about loss of life we are done.” It was weird; she got some backlash; and ultimately posted an Instagram Story saying she “stands for equal rights for everyone,” and that her post shouldn’t have been that controversial. Her reps then told TMZ that she’s a registered Democrat.

Haylie is rumored to be a Republican, which is also rumored to have contributed to the years-long rift between her and Hilary. (The sisters haven’t been photographed together since 2019.) Though Hilary recently debuted a new song at her concert in London, titled “We Don’t Talk,” which includes the lyrics, “And if it’s ’cause you’re jealous/God knows I would sell it all to break you off the bigger half.” So take from all of that what you may.

What will happen next?! Will Duff write a song about all this? Will Moore give us more than eleven words? Will Trainor make a TikTok that actually explains it all!? This is what petty, messy dreams are made of.
