In the middle of accepting his award, presented to him by your ex-boyfriend Kiefer Sutherland who you had to break up with because you grew apart, Cumberbatch has a little fun with the audience:

‘As you can see I’m here in LA, I’ve been working and I’m in front of Hollywood
here and…’ Benedict trailed off mid-sentence. Cue a random swimming
trunks shot.

Audiences suddenly saw the camera pan down to reveal a pair of red swimming trunks underneath his suit jacket.

‘…What? No, no, no way, go up! Don’t show them my shorts. Christ! Sorry,’ Benedict spluttered as he re-arranged his tie
