Creepy Porcelain Dolls Left in Front of Homes Where Little Girls Live

Latest

Someone’s either playing a cruel trick or issuing some kind of cryptic warning to the children of San Clemente, California. Police report that an unidentified person is leaving porcelain dolls in front of homes where 10-year-old girls live. And what’s even creepier is that the dolls resemble the children.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Jeff Hallock, 11 dolls have been reported by frightened parents. The dolls were all placed in front of homes in the same gated community and, according to KTLA, at least some of the girls attend the same elementary school. The dolls have been taken into evidence and while the Sheriff’s Department says that leaving scary-as-shit porcelain dolls in front of children’s homes is not a crime (yes it is! Have you never seen a horror movie, Sheriff?) Hallock says that the police are taking this incident very seriously.

“Is it a prank? Is there some specific motivation?” Hallock said. “Obviously, there’s an indication by some the parents that the dolls resemble their daughters. We’re talking about children here.
“Anything that has the potential to involve children causes us some concern.”

LAist suggests that this might just be someone’s misguided attempt to spread peace and joy* to the children and their families (they are being optimistic), but then why not leave some kind of note or ring the doorbell? I’ve seen this Tales From the Crypt episode and it does not end well.

Just for reference, if you don’t think this is creepy:

Dolls, man.

*I just need to share that a similar type of thing happened to my family back in the old country. Someone would wait until we were gone and then throw a box of cookies through an open window. This happened several times and my parents thought that someone was trying to poison us and made us sleep with them so we wouldn’t be kidnapped. Turned out it was one of their friends who would have extra cookies from work and would bring them by and just miss us. STILL CREEPY.
