Bad!
On Wednesday morning, the real Donald J. Trump tweeted some spicy political analysis about why his opponent managed win Iowa instead of him. It wasn’t because he skipped the most recent GOP debate (which he admitted could have contributed to his coming in second place), or because he is a racist pretend-Christian. It’s because, Trump is certain, Cruz illegally stole the election.
At 8:40 a.m., Trump tweeted his first accusation of electoral fraud:
“Ted Cruz didn’t win Iowa, he illegally stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong any why [sic] he got more votes than anticipated. Bad!”
The tweet was deleted six minutes later, and replaced it with a gentler version that excised the word “illegally” and the “any” typo.
For a second I thought Trump was ashamed of blatantly accusing his opponent of electoral fraud, but I was wrong, because he elaborated:
So vote for Trump, the man who had never lied or manipulated large swaths of the country.
