Dude Loses Fingertips on Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Disney World

Latest

It looks like my slowly waning fear of amusement park rides has suddenly waxed again.

Over at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, an unnamed British tourist has unfortunately and very painfully learned the importance of keeping your hands inside the ride. The man, who is said to be in his mid-to-late 50s lost the tips of his ring and pinky fingers on his right hand on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Via Sky News:

“We received a call from a Disney cast member informing us that a guest had been injured, so we responded and he was treated at a local hospital. It was a non-emergency situation…”
“He was around 57 years old. What the medic told me is was he was saying, ‘I had my hand on the side of the boat and I shouldn’t have. It was all my fault.’

The ride was closed temporarily as officials checked it out, but it was soon reopened. Welp, good thing my thirst for a thrilling ride is quenched by the subway.

Moral of the story: “You best start believing in ghost stories, Mr. Unnamed British Guy—YOU’RE IN ONE.”
