First Online Date Allegedly Culminates in Car Theft

Latest

Everybody’s got a couple of bad date stories. But has your online date ever stolen your car? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Philly.com reports that New Jersey cops have arrested a 53-year-old man for alleged car theft. They accuse him of crimes against romance, as well:

Tietz and the unnamed victim became acquainted online and decide to meet up in person Feb. 26, police said. He allegedly told her his name was Gennaro Aladena, and that he went by the nickname “Gooch.”
At some point during the encounter, Tietz got ahold of the woman’s car keys and took the vehicle without her permission, according to investigators.

Unfortunately for “Gooch,” the car was rather distinctive—a red Toyota with vanity plates reading “Jrsygrl”—and was spotted not long afterward, cops say. Can’t even find a man who knows to take a stolen car to the damn chop shop anymore.
