The Knicks Game Was A Taylor Swift Op-Fest

Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun were within 15 feet of each other for the first time since all *that* went down. Plus, Swift made up with Kylie Jenner.

It’s official. The NBA Finals are the new Met Gala. Hear me out—They’re both full of A-listers, cost bajillion dollars to attend under the roof of a legendary NYC institution, and you absolutely must dress on theme. (That is, the Knicks’ blue and orange).

The game was exciting, and not just because legend Mariska Hargitay was there. Down 27 points at the half, the Knicks rallied to beat the Spurs 107–106 in the final seconds of the game. Safe to say it was a really good night for Timothee Chalamet, who is personally responsible for any time the Knicks win. (At least, he might think so). Other notable names at MSG last night: Kylie Jenner, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, Julianne Moore, Edie Falco, two out of three of the Haim Sisters, and the honorary fourth Haim sister, Taylor Swift. And while the two teams went head-to-head, Swift had a head-to-head of her own, the head belonging to her former op Scooter Braun, who was also there with his GF Sydney Sweeney.

While Swift twinned with the Haims and Hargitay in matching Knicks-pun shirts (Swift’s and Hargitay’s just read “Stevie Knicks”), Braun and Sweeney enjoyed the game from several rows behind, which might mark the first time Braun and Swift have been within 15 feet of each other since all that went down. Someone with a keen eye managed to snap a pic of Swift sitting courtside with Braun and Sweeney’s heads bobbing somewhere in the background.

Since the beef is now 10 years old, I’m sure everyone involved has done the requisite therapy and songwriting over the events that started it: Braun swooping in to take ownership of Swift’s catalog and having a hand in the doctored phone call between Swift, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian. However, Braun recently gave an interview to the Free Press (*audience jeers*), in which he claimed, “I don’t know Taylor Swift. I think I’ve met her in my life three times. I have never had a substantial conversation with her in my life.” And that he, “I will never truly understand that situation.” Well, Scooter, the Swifties might disagree…

Speaking of Swift’s former ops, this video of Swift and Jenner hugging post-game also kind of broke my brain. Kylie’s sister, Kim, was involved in the aforementioned phone call, and the subject at least one Swift-diss track. But the joy of watching the Knicks coming back from nearly 30 points down was apparently enough to bring the Swift and Kardashian cinematic universes together.

Also, several radio hosts at the game were caught talking sh*t about Swift and the attention she garnered by her being there, which is the exact kind of low-hanging fruit/hater energy we are accustomed to seeing Swift receive on any given day. Still, she had a great time, so haters be damned. 

There are also rumors circulating on TMZ and Page Six that Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding will be a 3-day event at MSG, but I’m not willing to bet all my chips just yet. If the guests don’t even know the time or location of the wedding, I doubt TMZ knows…. But prove me wrong.
