A shooting at a home in north Harris County has left six people dead and police are currently engaged in a standoff with the suspected shooter.
The AP is reporting four children and two adults were killed. KTRK in Houston reported the shooter was identified as a family member by one of the victims.
The bodies were discovered at a home in the 700 block of Leaflet Lane near Interstate 45 and Cypresswood. Four children and two adults died at the scene, while a mother and a child were transported via LifeFlight to a hospital. That child has since died and the mother is now the lone survivor of the attack. We’re told she’s in critical condition.
Harris County Pct. 4 deputies say the mother was shot in the head but managed to call 911 and tell them that a family member was the gunman. She told deputies he was going to a restaurant to kill another family member who works there.
The suspected shooter is currently engaged in active standoff with police. A vehicle fled the scene, leading police on a chase. The car was stopped in a cul-de-sac; live footage of the standoff can be seen here.
Right now, the suspect has locked himself in the vehicle and authorities are trying to negotiate with him. Deputies say the suspect, who’s in his mid 40’s, has a gun held to his head.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, three children and two adults died at the scene. Another two kids — a four year old boy and 15-year-old girl — were transported via LifeFlight to a hospital. The boy died at the hospital and the 15-year-old, who was shot in the head, remains is in critical condition.The other victims are a 39-year-old man and his 33-year-old wife, a 13-year-old boy, as well as a 9- and 7-year-old girl. Authorities have not released any of their identities.
