Hilton Hotels know the secret to attracting young people: Foosball tables and donuts!
SplinterHilton Hotels announced Monday they are planning to build a new series of hotels aimed mostly at young adults, called Tru.
“The brand will appeal to a broad range of travelers who span generations but think alike; they are united by a millennial mindset—a youthful energy, a zest for life and a desire for human connection,” the chain said in its release.
The main video accompanying the announcement captures the essence of what a nearly 100-year-old brand thinks young adults are into in 2016. So what does Hilton think youngins are into into?
- Ping-pong
- Monosyllabic exclamations
- Dancing
- Sunglasses
- Converse sneakers
- Glazed donuts
See for yourself:
And here is what the hotel will actually look like. Nice: foosball tables!Despite the ridiculousness of the videos, Hilton says a night at a Tru hotel will usually cost no more than $100, which a rep noted to me was 20% less than a Hampton Inn.
So, a pretty good deal if you can stand some over-the-top targeting.
