J.K. Rowling Sends Teen Shooting Survivor a Letter from Dumbledore
LatestJ.K. Rowling has reached out to the teenaged survivor of a terrible shooting, sending her a letter from “Dumbledore,” a wand, and a Hogwarts acceptance letter.
That’s according to the Telegraph (via The Mary Sue). In July, 15-year-old Cassidy Stay survived a horrifying attack by her aunt’s ex-husband, playing dead until he left—and then immediately phoned the police to alert them he was headed for her grandparents. But her parents and siblings were murdered. At their memorial service, she quoted The Prisoner of Azkaban: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
