Jeb Bush Keeps Calling Malia Obama 'Malala'

Politics

Hmm.

On Tuesday, exhausted little prince Jeb Bush spoke at an event at the Council on Foreign Relations, presumably to show that he was globally-aware. Instead of doing that, he called Malia Obama “Malala.”

To demonstrate his knowledge, Bush told a story about how Michelle Obama blew off a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan. This was insulting to the Chinese, he said. (He also said this happened in 2009, although, according to Politico, it happened in 2013.)

“Every meeting I had in Beijing started out for the first 10 minutes started out lambasting me about why it was, as an American, why it was that we insulted China,” he said. “And I’m thinking, you know what, it could be that Mrs. Obama was worried about the science project of Malala.”

This is apparently not the first time this has happened:

Malia Obama is the eldest Obama daughter. Malala Yousafzai is a Nobel Peace laureate. They are two of the most famous young women on Earth.
