At just 14 years old, Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber has a burgeoning modeling career unto itself. Though this Pop cover (via Fashionista) is Gerber’s first solo joint, you can already divine the talent in her fresh face, which is reminiscent of iconic super-early covers like Cecilia Dean on lei; Karlie, Chanel and Ali on Teen Vogue; or–yeah, I’ll say it—Kate Moss on The Face. It’s a je ne sais quoi that promises we’re going to see this young face for awhile, even aside from being Crawford’s daughter. What can I say! Supermodels pass on their genes, man. It’s not fair but neither is life.
Not convinced? How about this cover…
…or this one (there are three).
Gerber was interviewed by Misty Heath, the 14-year-old daughter of Pop Founder Ashley Heath; Daily Mail nabbed a copy as it’s already out in London, and among other things she discussed her career thus far:
‘It’s not like I never dreamed it could happen because it’s really all I dreamed about,’ she explains.
‘But I never thought it’d happen this early. It didn’t hit me until Mum and I got the French Vogue cover – even after that I was like, “wait is this really happening?” I’m still kind of shocked.’
Teens interviewing teens are the best interviews, so look out for that in your city. This isn’t Gerber’s first cover, though, just her first solo one; in March, she shared the cover of Vogue Paris with her famous mom. As Ashley Heath noted in Pop, Crawford and Gerber are “both being smart and very selective” about the modeling jobs she takes, which is prudent and no doubt because Crawford’s already been through its many bad aspects.
