After nearly two weeks spent in UCLA’s medical center getting treatment for what doctors said was a “temporary psychosis” brought on by sleep deprivation and what I can only assume was extreme exhaustion, Kanye West has been released from the hospital and is headed home.
Peoplereports that West was discharged Wednesday and that a source close to the rapper confirms that ““He is home, getting some rest” which sounds like a really good idea, considering the harrowing week and a half it’s been.
While much speculation has flown around about why he was hospitalized and what precipitated this incident, TMZ says that part of the reason is because of the anniversary of his mother’s passing, in combination with the tour, running his business, being a dad and comforting Kim who is still recovering from the robbery in October.
But our sources say the trigger for the breakdown was Donda’s death back in November 2007. Her funeral was November 20 — the same day he cancelled his show at the L.A. Forum. The following day — November 21 — Kanye cancelled the remainder of the tour and hours later suffered the breakdown.
People close to Kanye tell us he never effectively grieved over his mom’s death and has always had a difficult time in November, but this time he reached the breaking point.
The death of his mother hit Kanye hard. In a 2015 interview, he blamed himself for her death, saying “If I had never moved to L.A. she’d be alive.”
Whatever’s going on with Kanye, I’m glad he’s out of the hospital and on the road to some sort of recovery.
At the final show of his Purpose tour in London, Justin Bieber, a tired young man who could probably also use some downtime, took to the stage and told a stadium of rabid fans that Instagram is “for the devil.”
“Instagram is for the devil,” he said, roaming the stage. “I think hell is Instagram. When you get sent to hell, you get locked in the Instagram server. Stuck in the DMs.” While Justin Bieber’s Instagram experience is most likely quite different from yours or mine, I’m pretty sure he’s onto something here.
Lauren Graham was recently made aware of the backlash around Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Her response: “We don’t pay attention to anything. We don’t know. None of us are on the internet, almost at all.” [People]
