I wouldn’t call myself a “gym hater.” I go. I do fucking hate it, but not more than most things? My experience has improved since abandoning the purple-yellow wasteland of repressed pizza hours and tank top requirements known as Planet Fitness for an almost-as-cheap alternative. Compared to a friend who recently told me she loves working out because of the bodily suffering that follows, I am no fan at all of this biweekly warmed up doom.
Neither is Kelly Clarkson, a person with a platform that matters. Amid all the celebs with their gym addictions, “just naturally perfect” coverups, and Instagram careers, Clarkson has adopted the tried and true method of hating working out and doing it anyway, then complaining about it later (that’s the healthiest part!).
