After the tragic news of her failed bar attempt in November, we are finally getting an update on the emotional rollercoaster that is Kim Kardashian’s journey to becoming a lawyer. And spoiler alert: the emotional rollercoaster will continue indefinitely.
A brief history of Kim’s journey with the law: Following in the footsteps of her father, Robert Kardashian, Kim began studying law in 2018 through California’s Law Office Study Program (LOSP), a four-year apprenticeship-style alternative to traditional law school. In 2021, Kim passed the baby bar after her third failed attempt, and in 2025, she held a graduation ceremony at which she was crowned valedictorian (she was the only person in her class) and celebrated finishing the four-year program, which took her only six years!
In November, Kim announced that she failed her first attempt at the California bar exam, but she still became a lawyer! (Not really, she just played one on TV, but a lawyer nonetheless) And now, a Kardashian insider has confirmed that Kim is taking a break—she skipped the exam in February and has no plans to try again when it is administered in July for the final time this year.
“Kim has a packed schedule and has been heavily involved in filming and production for several projects, so she decided it’s best to skip this round of the bar exam and focus on taking it again when she feels ready,” a source told Page Six. “Most people who take the bar exam dedicate months leading up to the test and focus all their energy on preparing, but she is working nonstop as a single mom and trying to do it all.” She certainly will be busy because All’s Fair is coming back for season 2, despite everyone begging them not to.
In December, when Kim and her ex-brother-in-law Scott Disick got their brains scanned by celebrity doctor Daniel Amen for an episode of The Kardashians, Kim’s scan revealed that she had “holes” in her brain and “low activity” in her frontal lobe. On an unrelated note, she also confessed to using ChatGPT for legal advice: “When I need to know the answer to a question, I’ll take a picture and snap it and put it in there,” she told Vanity Fair, which she then blamed for her failed tests, “They’re always wrong. It has made me fail tests all the time.”
Still, Kim promised that she would not give up in the face of failure: “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar.” But then she wrote: “No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination.” Kimberly, girl, put the ChatGPT down!!!
But I’m not too worried for Kim, because when you’re this rich and successful, life just becomes a series of fun sidequests. In the past decade, Kim has pursued law, acting, shapewear, beauty, legendary phone games, and now she will try her luck as a producer. In April, Variety confirmed that Kim would be joining the producing team for The Fear of 13 on Broadway, starring Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson, as “part of her continued effort to bring attention to criminal justice reform.”
Maybe her next business venture will be AI that actually helps you cheat at law school, although I don’t want to give her any ideas, because this sounds like something the Kardashians would actually do.
