Lifetime’s Girlfriend Intervention is an embarrassment on a number of levels. The entire premise is based on a tired stereotype of the sassy, quick-talking black girl whose only purpose is to serve up some soul and down-home advice to her white girlfriends.
The Daily Show‘s Jessica Williams and comedian Phoebe Robinson prove how utterly absurd the entire show is by taking to the streets of New York with their own brand of girlfriend intervention which involves significantly fewer neck rolls and Z-snaps.
The two hilariously try to help out “all the basic bitches who don’t have fairy black mothers to guide them” and I think we need to look into swapping this out with that garbage on Lifetime immediately.
