Naomi Campbell Allegedly Set To Marry In An Ancient Egyptian Temple
Latest- According to reports in the Arab press, Naomi Campbell is going to convert to Russian Orthodox faith so she can marry her scary-rich oligarch boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin, in a massive ceremony at the Temple of Luxor on the Nile! [P6]
- This is probably not true, because as Campbell discussed on Oprah earlier this year, Vladimir Doronin is still very much married to his first wife, Ekaterina. (Although they have been separated for years.) [Jezebel]
- How many Victoria’s Secret models does it take to replace Madonna in a fashion ad? Let’s count: Isabeli Fontana, Alessandra Ambrosio, Maryna Linchuk, and Izabel Goulart shot Dolce & Gabbana‘s spring campaign in New York yesterday. [Fashionologie]
- As for the Victoria’s Secret show itself, it took 68 hair extensions, 40 hours of work from the styling team, and 8.5 bottles of body bronzer to ready the models. Also, Alessandra Ambrosio works out 15 days per year. [Fashionista]

- Justin Bieber‘s nail polish collection for OPI is variously sparkly, glittery, and pearlized. [Twitpic, @evachen212]
- Apparently, if you are a major beauty corporation with money to burn right now, an independent nail polish company is the hot thing to buy. Coty, which owns Sally Hansen, is understood to be courting OPI, as is Proctor & Gamble. Asking price? $1 billion. Essie was bought by L’Oréal earlier this year for around $100 million. [WWD]
- Miley Cyrus launched her Wal-Mart collection with Max Azria at Asda in the U.K. [This is London]
- Want to live in Nina Garcia‘s old digs? It’ll cost you an asking price of $8.5 million. [Curbed]

- Colin Firth says that Tom Ford is at work on a new film — one that will be “very different” from A Single Man. “I’m jealous of whoever’s gonna be in it,” says the actor. [Grazia]
- Who isn’t making a film? Karl Lagerfeld. Although the Chanel head traditionally subjects the fashion world to one of his interminable masterpieces around the time of his Métiers D’Art collection show, he won’t be this year. The Kaiser says it’s because he’s simply too busy, but could it be that too many people thought the yellowface costuming of last year was distasteful? [WWD]
- Science: Always tackling the important subjects, like how cats drink, and how women wear high heels. [Fox]
- Cathy Horyn plays Captain Obvious regarding the Met‘s upcoming Alexander McQueen show, set for next summer: “Finding examples of his early work will be a detective hunt for the Met’s costume curators, as Mr. McQueen generally sold dresses to friends or individual patrons to pay bills, and there may not be a solid photographic record of those collections. Still, it would be interesting to see as much of the early work as possible alongside his later designs.” [On The Runway]
- All we got from this article about Ralph Lauren‘s technicolor 4-D Vegas light show sextravaganza is that Elizabeth Berkley is married to Greg Lauren. She liked the show. [WWD]
- London Columnist With Inches To Fill Really, Really Into Rihanna. “Forget Gaga and her avant-garde posturing (yawn), my vote for female pop star with the most kick-ass fashion attitude goes to Rihanna.” [Telegraph]
- Boots, the U.K. chemist’s, is expanding the distribution of its skin care brand in the U.S. But it won’t be opening its own stores here, because it fears competing with Walgreens and CVS. [WWD]
- At a charity auction, former and now again Heatherette designer Richie Rich spontaneously donated two front-row tickets to his next fashion show, and then implored the crowd, “Bitches, you better bid!” The seats went for $2,500. [P6]
- Tod’s had a good third quarter. Revenues grew 24% over the same period last year. [WWD]
- An anonymous “fashion industry insider” swears that a $40 moisturizer magically repels bedbugs. Taking a Pascal’s Wager approach to, um, science, Fashionista writes: “Whether or not it’s true, we can’t corroborate. But it’s worth a try, right?” Right. [Fashionista]
