No, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Weren’t Fighting After the Met Gala

It’s been two days since Met Gala Monday, which means the Met is back to being an art museum, Jeff Bezos is back to being “Temu Lex Luthor,” and the stars are finally making their way home from the afters (I would hope). But as we were busy judging the looks while the after-parties raged on, one couple seemingly didn’t make it out: Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, who were rumored to have gotten in an argument mid-Gala. 

In a video obtained by TMZ, an onlooker captured Rihanna and A$AP Rocky talking in their limousine after the Met Gala, where Rihanna appeared upset. The clip runs for about a minute, as the couple goes back and forth—I’ll admit, they’re not exactly radiating joy—while voices behind the camera chime in with, “They do not look happy.”

Despite the fact that filming through the glass of a limo is an insane invasion of privacy, and I feel a little icky even watching it, I still don’t think this proves they were fighting. The couple simply looks worn out after a long night of whatever it is people actually do at the Met Gala. And although we can’t make out what’s being said, that didn’t stop the internet wildfire from ravaging and combing through every scrap of footage from the night featuring the two, trying to piece together the mystery.

In another clip unearthed on Monday night, Rihanna is approached by cameras as A$AP Rocky chats with a woman in the background. At one point, the woman places a hand on his shoulder—gasp—and suddenly the internet decides Rihanna must be upset with him, with the help of the TMZ headline, “RIHANNA GIVES A$AP ROCKY CHILLY VIBES … After Rapper Talks to Other Woman.” In the same clip, Tyla can be seen waiting off to the side next to Rihanna, which prompted another round of speculation that Rihanna had somehow dissed Tyla. Again, there was no beef. Why can’t y’all leave Rihanna alone!?

As Tyla pointed out in her Instagram story, the valet line to leave the Met Gala is long, and by then the stars are exhausted. “The ghetto part of the Met is when we all gotta stand glammed up in our costumes while people watch us wait longggg for all the cars to come around and fetch us one by one,” she wrote. So you get a flood of people filming and photographing you, and then you’re essentially trapped there? Sounds like a real blast.

So, no, Rihanna wasn’t starting a fight with her man or with any other person she interacted with, but perhaps you too would be unenthused if you were trapped in fashion hell with Lauren Sanchez Bezos and couldn’t escape!
