Rashida Jones: Reports She Left Pixar 'Because of Unwanted Advances' Are 'Untrue'
CelebritiesDirt BagIn a statement delivered to the New York Times, Rashida Jones corrected reports (which included those quoted in Tuesday night’s Dirt Bag) that she and writing partner Will McCormack left the production of Toy Story 4 after Disney Animation Head John Lasseter “made an unwanted advance” toward her.
Her statement reads:
“The breakneck speed at which journalists have been naming the next perpetrator renders some reporting irresponsible. We did not leave Pixar because of unwanted advances. That is untrue. We parted ways because of creative and, more importantly, philosophical differences. There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films. However, it is also a culture where women and people of color do not have an equal creative voice.”
John Lasseter announced his “six-month sabbatical” after admitting to “missteps” that made members of the Disney Animation staff feel “disrespected or uncomfortable.”
