Sheer, Shiny and Slinky Gowns at the Critics' Choice Television Awards

BeautyStyle

Last night, the annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards occurred in New York City; as such, all of your favorite television stars donned their most beauteous dresses and/or formal trousers in order to receive accolades.

This year, everyone was all glittery, sultry-looking and bedazzled. Plus, everyone had great hair. Let us take a look:

One of my favorite looks of the night: Lizzy Caplan a sheer, ethereal Valentino dress (she opted for a version without the feathered sleeves that appeared in the lookbook, which was for the best). She looks gorgeous, and I am v. enamored of her hair style.

In another Best Look, we have Orange Is the New Black‘s Uzo Aduba, looking like a golden goddess in a glittering vintage Grecian gown.

Also pretty much flawless: Keri Russell effusing glamor in a plunging jacquard J. Mendel dress.

Danielle Brooks looks so good, too! I love the color, the cut, the neckline of her dress, not to mention the dramatic hair.

YAAAAAS, Laverne Cox. She’s wearing Alice + Olivia, feat. bedazzled embellishments and the most dignified sideboob of the night.

Emmy Rossum wore a magenta one-shouldered Monique Lhullier dress with a sheer panel at the waist (hooray for Formal Midriff), which she paired with turquoise earrings and eye makeup. I love the color combination; she looks stunning.

Diane Kruger wore a sheer, intricately embroidered Elie Saab couture gown. Her look is really close to being exquisite, but something is off for me — the bodice seems too structured somehow?

True Detective‘s Michelle Monaghan wore a color-blocked peplum top with matching Formal Trousers. It’s definitely a bold move, but perhaps too casual amongst the sea of flowing gowns.

Here’s Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, looking extremely happy and cute in a draped, minimalistic Cushnie et Ochs dress. I wish she had coordinated all of her accessories.

Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the glorious geniuses behind Broad City, both looked beauteous in short lil’ dresses. I love the shade of blue Abbi’s in.

Radiant in metallics: Allison Janney looking like the most chic Woman of the 21st Centry, Gina Rodriguez opted for a more playful silhouette, and Minnie Driver rocked a glittery bodice.

Beautiful in black: Michelle Trachtenberg looked sultry in Alice + Olivia; Natasha Lyonne was swathed in sheer fabric; Annet Mahendru was breathtaking in black lace.

Stylish, structured and minimalistic: Kat Graham executed the formal pantsuit t perfection; Sufe Bradshaw and Aisha Tyler both went understated, black and floor-length.

Meh: Laura Prepon in a Chloe dress that is simultaneously boring and too busy; Roma Downey‘s blazer makes her Dolce & Gabbana dress look almost business casual; Bellamy Young‘s shirt and skirt fit a bit awkwardly.

Wearing colors, we have Carrie Preston, Mayim Bialik, and Carrie Brownstein.

MEN: RuPaul looks amazing, as per usual; Matt Bomer continues to be the most handsome man on the planet, Matthew McConaughey McConaghey’ed the night away.
