Okay, this Puerto Rico relief effort started by Stephen Colbert is a little convoluted, but it’s also genius. No one can resist posting their #TBT photos for a good cause.
Nick Kroll appeared on Late Night with Stephen Colbert and announced that he was encouraging celebrities to share their awkward teen photos, but with a humanitarian angle. If those celebrities hashtag the image #PuberMe and #PiertoRicoRelief, Colbert will send money from his AmeriCone ice cream fund to Puerto Rico, and Kroll will match every donation.
It’s not clear how much money that actually is, but the popularity of the #PuberMe challenge is growing. Most people share their old goofy school pics for the likes, so you might as well share them for charity. It’s mostly comedians, but a few unexpected celebs are starting to make appearances—awkward appearances we won’t soon forget, starting with Colbert:
