Strauss-Kahn Accuser Requests New Prosecutor Due To Leaks
LatestToday lawyers representing the hotel maid who’s accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of assault asked District Attorney Cyrus Vance to step down and appoint a special prosecutor. They say prosecutors from Vance’s office were wrong to share their doubts about the woman’s credibility with the press.
A spokeswoman for the D.A.’s office called the request “wholly without merit,” adding, “We strongly disagree with how the office and the work of the assistant district attorneys have been characterized.” It’s unlikely that the request will be granted, and Pace University law professor Bennett Gershman called the accuser’s response to damaging information being leaked to the media “a stunt.”
