The Blackest Black Gowns at the LACMA Art + Film Gala

BeautyStyle

On Saturday evening, the LA County Museum of Art held a gala in honor of Barbara Kruger and Quentin Tarantino (presented by Gucci). It was a regular smorgasbord of gowns, gowns, gowns.

Black was the color of the night, which didn’t work very well for photos, given that the backdrop was also black. Still, we do what we can. Jennifer Jason Leigh went demure and floral with hers, while Demi Moore rocked a train and a high collar. Kirsten Dunstjust seemed happy to be alive. Given how I spent Halloween weekend, I feel her.

Jennifer Tilly looks very suspicious, almost as if she knew I would be underwhelmed by the shiny embroidery on her dress. Marg Helgenberger has the most beautiful hair and while I don’t usually love weird cutouts on dresses, this one seems to work. Liberty Ross has slightly improved since her last appearance ’round these parts.

What…is…Roseanna Arquette…doing. Rachel Evan Wood looks goth-beautiful, if v. serious, and wowowowow to Cara Delevingne‘s new hair and glittery train.

In bold blues: J.Lo rocks a deep-v like it is no one’s business; Camilla Belle channels her inner fembot; Amy Adams has the most perfect hair ever, but this dress is just slightly off.

Detail of J.Lo’s bag/dress at left; detail of Florence Welch‘s shoes at right.

It’s cool that Florence wears exactly what she wants all the time and does not give a fuck about what anyone else thinks but this outfit I cannot get behind.

Dakota Johnson‘s hair is eh, as is her dress, but Kate Hudson really brought it and she knows it.

I could look at photos of Kate Beckinsale and her husband for hours, even if said photos were just close-ups of her back dimples and his face dimples (sorry, too weird?). Selena Gomez is all grown up and she knows it.

I like Michelle Rodriguez‘s bangs and her shoulders look incredible in this cut. Salma Hayek always manages to walk right up to the line of matronly and skirt around it.

At left: a man. At right: A MAN.

Cute couples: Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman; Patricia Arquette and Eric White; Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.

The couple that poses together…

Poses together forever.

Just me and my bitches, hanging. What a good night it was.
