At the 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards, the stars didn’t seem to stick to any patterns, showing up in brights, pastels, short dresses, long gowns, sleek suits, sparkles, and satin. A red carpet rundown, straight ahead:
Taraji P. Henson goes for old school Hollywood glam and succeeds.
There’s something a little too bridal about Selena Gomez‘s gown, isn’t there?
While Keri Hilson‘s dress is a little too prom, right?
I love Gabrielle Union‘s dress, but I’m not sold on the shoes. I do, however, love the fact that her clutch looks like an Airstream trailer.
Vann Jones: yet another man looking so dashing in a bow-tie that it makes me reconsider my general distaste for such attire.
Sandra Bullock‘s dress isn’t my favorite, but I keep picturing the trainwreck that was the All About Steve premiere, and this is definitely a vast improvement.
The cut and color of Gabby Sidibe’s dress are divine, no?
Tyler Perry opted for a white tie, I believe, which didn’t photograph well, resulting in this turtleneck-ish look.
I love the sparkle of Wendy Raquel Robinson‘s gown, though I’m not really sure what that cutout piece is all about.
Sandra Oh achieves the rare red carpet appearance of being both glam and comfortable. Is there a dumb fashion word for such a thing? Glamfortable? Comfourous?
Jill Scott‘s dress is tight and shimmery…
While Kimberly Elise goes for a soft, flowy pastel.
America’s Next Top Model winner Eva Marcille shows off her smizing abilities…
While Precious director Lee Daniels just plays it cool.
Claudia Jordan‘s dress is very Disney Princess, isn’t it?
Though Anika Noni Rose is a Disney Princess, so I suppose she can pull off a dress like this.
Keisha Knight-Pulliam clearly didn’t have her dress designed by her on-screen sister, Denise Huxtable. Maybe this is a genuine Gordon Gartrelle?
Alfre Woodard looks gorgeous, and I think she knows it.
Mya looks pretty in pink…
while Sherri Shepherd looks lovely in light blue.
Morgan Freeman, looking very dashing with producer Lori McCreary.
As is Chiwetel Ejiofor, in a simple black tie ensemble.
I can’t see this color dress on anyone—including Regina King—without thinking of Peaches ‘n’ Cream Barbie.
I’m kind of loving Cicely Tyson‘s sleek suit.
And how cute is Amber Riley‘s dress?
Chandra Wilson‘s gown is simple but elegant.
As I’ve said before, I love yellow on the red carpet, and Keke Palmer‘s dress is no exception.
I like the shimmer in Tatyana Ali‘s dress…
and I dig Maxwell’s square shades.
Though I think LL Cool J might have had the best accessories of the evening. What can I say? Ladies love cool James.
