Donald Trump, still spiraling loudly nearly a week after the New York Times published a story that depicted his dealings with women in a negative light, is now contending that “it’s not the worst things, okay, when you look at what Clinton’s gone through and all the things that he’s done.” My, what a wonderful cast of characters we have here!
In an interview—or, rather, an exchange of loving pleasantries—with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Wednesday night, Trump scoffed at the Times story (whose popularity he has undoubtedly contributed to by endlessly discussing it), referring to it as a “total con job” (the Times and its reporters have stood by it).
In a fun game of “Which Man Allegedly Did Worse Things to Women?”, Hannity brought up the women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct.
“Are they going to interview Juanita Broaddrick?” he asked. “Are they going to interview Paula Jones? Are they going to interview Kathleen Willey? In one case, it’s about exposure. In another case, it’s about groping and fondling and touching against a woman’s will.”
“And rape,” Trump added—the first time, as The Hill points out, that he’s lodged that particular accusation at Clinton. They then both implied that the media has gone easy on the Clintons, which is, uh, a very funny thing to think.
Paula Jones sued Bill Clinton for sexual harassment in 1994; Clinton settled for $850,000. Kathleen Willey, now campaigning against Hillary, accused Clinton of groping her while she was a White House aid. Juanita Broaddrick accused Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978 and disclosed the alleged incident in 1999, suing him with the help of right-wing organization Judicial Watch. The lawsuit was dismissed in 2001. Broaddrick recently became active on Twitter and accused Hillary Clinton of trying to “silence” her; she’s also weighed in on the New York Times story:
