Versace, for the Punk Rock, Tiger-Owning Dominatrix Businesswoman in You

Latest

Ooh, one of the highlights of Milan Fashion Week: Versace. The fall/winter 2013 collection shown today has a decidedly fetish/bondage feel: Snug-fitting vinyl pants is accented with studs; throats are encircled with chokers and collars; spikes literally pierce dresses. Sweaters are shredded, as if by claws or fingernails; gowns are slashed and sliced open. With the exception of one seriously Eddie Murphy-esque red motorcycle jacket, there’s a ’90s vibe here, reminiscent of Tom Ford’s work at Gucci (the white dresses accented with metal) and the infamous Versace safety-pin dress Liz Hurley wore to the ’94 premiere of Four Weddings. One might think the BDSM hints were connected to Fifty Shades, but number one, Donatella is not a submissive, and number two, she found the book too badly written to finish.
