The Supermodels of the World took on the supermodels of this second on Monday night’s RuPaul’s Drag Race, in which runway stars Gigi Hadid and Chanel Iman were tasked with judging the catwalk steez of Ru’s girls. It was also the all-important Snatch Game episode—always the best episode of the season, in that it’s the most entertaining and also weeds out the non-funny queens so we can scowl and jeer their lack of charisma for the duration of their tenure, which is never very long if they screw it up.
Bob the Drag Queen won that whole jam by pulling out two characters, a Drag Race first: she did a pitch-perfect Crazy Eyes, and midway through switched out the wig and did an equally perfect Carol Channing, all riotous. Jury’s still out on whether Hadid or Iman have ever heard of Carol Channing—they let deadly boring Britney impersonator Derrick Berry skate by for impersonating Britney, a painfully uncreative move that won for her presumably because at least the young models know who the hell Britney even is. In the clip above, Gigi learns about the art of padding thanks to Bob’s runway look, a Madonna-mandated them in which she recreated Madge dressing like a Boy Scout to the GLAAD Awards.
Here, Gigi confirms all our suspicions that being in runway shows is boring.
It was a fine episode, with some weird choices—Diana Vreeland? Tiffany “New York” Pollard?—but ultimately, Acid Betty got the axe for doing a shockingly lackluster Nancy Grace, having the nerve to say that the Snatch Game is dumb (girl… bye) and not managing her lip sync instincts well enough to give birth to her drag baby before the lip sync song—Madonna’s underrated jam “Causin’ a Commotion”—ended. A huge disappointment for Brooklyn, but at least we’ve still got Bob, who I’d bet money on at this point. Until next week!
