What Reverend Adam Sandler Told Taylor and Travis at the Altar

Details are pouring in about the wedding, and by “the wedding”, I mean THE WEDDING, as if I even need to clarify who I’m talking about…Sorry to everyone else who got married this weekend, because no, you didn’t—That was just for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, whose top-secret wedding took place at MSG on Friday, and even after a holiday weekend, the internet is not quite ready to give up piecing together the details of the star-studded, NDA-laden, camera-free affair.

There were a LOT of leaked tidbits from the night (see: Dirtbag), but the wildest, at least to me, was that the man officiating the wedding was none other than comedy great (and fellow songwriter) Adam Sandler. Apparently, Sandler is a longtime Swiftie, so this choice checked out. Plus, he got to know Kelce while filming Happy Gilmore 2. Due to the complicated NDA situation, it’s unclear what attendees are actually allowed to reveal about the event, but as of Sunday, we have some secondhand goss about how Sandler sent the couple off in marriage via Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. (Q: Does that violate the NDA? A: He probably doesn’t know.)

“He told them to ‘keep kissing,’” Reid said on a guest appearance on Deseret News and later to CNN, which he agreed was good advice. (Reid has been married for 45 years, so he knows good marriage advice, I’m assuming.) “It’s hard to argue when you give your wife a kiss, or your wife gives you a kiss. And make sure you do it every day, every minute that you have an opportunity to do it. Knock it out, and you won’t have problems.” It also doesn’t hurt when you have infinite money!

TMZ also reported that Sandler performed an original song for the couple that “was humorous yet touching and was all about their love.” It’s unclear if this was before or after the 40-minute vows, but I’m imagining something akin to his SNL days.

“In a simple, hysterical way, he was phenomenal,” Reid added. “He’s crazy, but he did a great job in getting them married with a lot of humor. But that part there I thought, pretty good advice, in its simplest form.” Need to know the “crazy” parts, but I’ll be patient and wait for the wedding to come out on Disney+ in 2-3 months.
