YouTube Orders Jordan Peele Sci-Fi Anthology Series Weird City
EntertainmentOn Thursday, Deadline reported that YouTube placed a straight-to-series order of Weird City, a forthcoming sci-fi anthology from Oscar-winner Jordan Peele (Get Out), and Charlie Sanders, who wrote for Key and Peele.
The series will consist of six episodes of 30 minutes apiece, and will debut on YouTube Premium circa 2019. Peele and Sanders are co-writing the show, and Jose Molina will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Peele’s Monkey Paw Productions is also producing, alongside Sonar Entertainment, Mosaic, and Raskal Productions.
Deadline reports that Weird City is “set in the not-too-distant future metropolis of Weird. Each episode is an exploration of issues that pertain to present day life, stories that could only be told now through the prism of sci-fi and comedy.” Which sounds generic and rather uninspiring, except that with Peele involved it’s bound not to be.
Here’s a scary thought: it’s 2019 and you’ve just visited YouTube dot com.
