A Sneak Peek Of Single Ladies, Which Is Not The Black Sex And The City
LatestNot exactly, anyway. From the looks of the new trailer, while love, sex and relationships are definitely the focus, no one will be staring wistfully out of a window while musing at a laptop. Instead, someone snipes: “Bitches got drama!”

While LisaRaye is clearly the “Samantha,” it seems like all of the women are more fun, more impulsive and less neurotic than the SATC gals. It’s kind of like that Elvis song: A little less conversation, a little more action! Honestly, you could go on and on about the downside of the “sassy black woman” stereotype, but the trailer made me laugh. It looks a little cheesy, but actually of better quality than some other crap aired by VH1 and MTV.
Here’s how the network puts it:
Single Ladies is a comedic drama about Val, Keisha, and April — three best friends with different philosophies on sex and relationships. Val ( Stacey Dash) is an ambitious aspiring fashion mogul who wants to find a true partner. Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy), on the other hand, is a former video dancer just looking for a rich man to keep her in style. April (Charity Shea) has supposedly found the perfect man and the perfect marriage — but is learning that marriage isn’t necessarily a happy ending. Single Ladies is a modern, sexy series set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity that will constantly explore which woman has the right approach to relationships.
Executive producer Queen Latifah will make a guest appearance on the series, as well as celebs like Common, Chilli and Eve. Whether the show will answer the truly big question of our lives — How Is It That 45-Year-Old Stacey Dash Doesn’t Age? — remains to be seen.
