Amber Heard’s ex-girlfriend Tasya van Ree has clarified the events surrounding Heard’s 2009 domestic violence arrest, saying the whole thing was overblown.
Heard was arrested at Seattle International Airport after allegedly grabbing, then hitting van Ree’s arm. She was booked, but never prosecuted:
Sources close to Amber tell us both her and Tasya say Amber’s arrest was simply a “lover’s spat,” and all she did was grab onto her arm.
Tasya says she told cops she didn’t want Amber arrested, but our law enforcement sources say Tasya was upset and unsympathetic to Amber when she was cuffed and taken away.
In a statement, van Ree refers to the incident as “over-sensationalized.” Via People:
“In 2009, Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a power position,” says van Ree.

It’s disheartening that Amber’s integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her,” she says in her statement. “We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day.”
In 2011, Heard’s lawyer sent a letter to the Port of Seattle Police Department requesting that her criminal history be deleted.
