Remember last week’s story about the woman who was kicked out of a Philadelphia public swimming pool (and driven away via mockery at another) for wearing an American Apparel bikini that—to paraphrase Mel Horowitz—LOOKS LIKE UNDAH-WEAH? Well, there’s a happy ending (I guess, if you like American Apparel bikinis), courtesy of the American Apparel corporation.
They’re flying said besmirched bikini enthusiast—whose name is Lisa Conn—out to Los Angeles to visit the company headquarters and pick out one billion new bikinis. They also apparently sent her a large pile of bikinis in the mail.
Here’s Conn’s response to her sudden windfall, via PhillyMag:
I just wanted to tell you thank you so so much! You listened to what happened and gave it a voice when the city would not. Unfortunately, I still have heard nothing from them…
I had no idea AA would respond this way, and I’m super excited. I am flying out August 4th to 6th, and they’re putting me up in the Ace Hotel, which is probably the fanciest hotel I have ever/may ever stay in. I get to tour the headquarters on the 5th and pick out swimwear.
This week feels a little Twilight Zone to me. I am not really a spotlight person, so I don’t know if I am handling it correctly. But none of this would have happened if it weren’t for you and I can’t thank you enough. I haven’t gone back to the pool yet (because now I feel a little anxious about it) but a group if women (my customers and friends ) want to go with me. So, I guess that’s next for me and hopefully it will be without trouble because I really miss it. At any rate, thank you thank you thank you !!!!!
